Matt W. Brown (b. London, Ontario, 1988) works with water-based pigments and paper folding to examine incidence, the socialization of colour, and implications of transition. Brown received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a major in painting in 2014. His work has been exhibited at The Nova Scotia Archives, Anna Leonowens Gallery, RBC Waterside Centre (Halifax), Eyelevel Gallery, VANS Corridor Gallery, Fringe Gallery, Forest City Gallery and the Artlab Gallery. His work is featured in both private and corporate collections. Brown has given public presentations of his work at the Anna Leonowens Gallery, McPhee Centre for Creative Learning, Fusion Halifax and the Artlab Gallery. He has also participated in artist residencies including the NSCAD Community Studio Residency and a self directed residency with Kings Wharf in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Brown is currently pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts degree at Western University in London, Ontario.
